Randy has been described as a serial entrepreneur. During a professional career spanning close to 30 years he has started and operated businesses in fields as diverse as online retail sales, residential construction and management, real estate investing and vending machine route ownership.
Throughout his marketing career, Randy found the greatest challenges and the greatest rewards working on event marketing and family entertainment. Those fields often utilized the unique properties of advertising specialties and promotional products. Marketing that would "stick" with a customer. Thus when Randy formed Gum Boyz in 2010 the company's tagline of "Marketing Ideas that Stick" and a focus on leveraging branded, imprinted and custom products to build business for his clients.
The common thread connecting Randy’s diverse career background is a firm commitment to branding and marketing, a craft honed while the owner and president of his own advertising and marketing agency, Kron & Associates Advertising, Inc. Randy set its mission, during it's 20-year history, as increasing the effectiveness of the marketing activities of its clients--helping them realize the maximum benefit from their marketing/advertising budgets through a dedication to building long-term client relationships and establishing a reputation as a premier agency in the Midwest. In 1996 Randy was recognized by the Indianapolis chapter of American Women in Radio and Television with a professionalism award for agency management.
Randy's client list has included: Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Walt Disney's World On Ice, The Harlem Globetrotters, Ford Motor Company, Chevrolet Trucks, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, Delta and Peerless Faucets, Charter Hospital, Jenn-Air Corp. and Indie Asset Partners.
A staunch advocate for the power of the written word to not just communicate but to motivate and inspire, Randy won his first of several writing awards at the age of 10. His professional career started as a newspaper reporter and photographer in his hometown of Manteca, California before he headed to the University of Notre Dame where he served as Student Assistant Sports Information Director and Publicist for four years at the university. An accomplished writer, Kron has published multiple media guides and has had feature stories appear in a number of publications.
Randy also served in publicity and promotion roles for Indiana's White River Park State Games and the 1987 Pan American Games before joining The Promotion Company (TPC), Inc. in 1988. With TPC Randy was both a Marketing Manager and Director of Public Relations working with the firm’s numerous event-marketing clients as well as its owned and operated automotive event.
Randy joining ImageQ Advertising in 1991. At ImageQ, he served as a Senior Account Executive and spearheaded the firm's new business development before launching Kron & Associates in 1992.
In recent years Randy has provided marketing services in an outsourced capacity to select customers including Golden Ventures, Inc., makers of the Cerama Bryte line of consumer cleaning products. He has been the firm’s Marketing Strategist since late 2010. Randy cut his teeth in the technology field as the Marketing Director for the Internet solutions provider, Solutions4eBiz before joining the team at Leonard-McDowell.
